6. Net Environmental Benefit Microturbine generation equipment can provide a source of clean and reliable electricity and heat. Since buildings in the United States contribute 40% of the greenhouse gas annually emitted, they are the single largest target for possible reduction. By generating both electricity and heat at the point of use in a building, an increase in end use fuel efficiency (generally 30-40%) is achieved.
