The standard is now officially known as EIA-232D. RS-485 ñ An Electronics Industries Association (EIA) serial interface standard for balanced, multipoint interface that incorporates tri-state drivers providing high tolerance to noise. RTD ñ Resistive Thermal Device. There are metallic RTD's (platinum, copper, nickel...) and nonmetallic RTD's called thermistor. SA ñ Stand Alone. Refers to a MicroTurbine System that uses a battery pack to motor the system as opposed to the grid power. SCF - Standard cubic feet = cubic feet at 1 atmosphere, 68°F. SCFM ñ Standard cubic feet per minute flow. SERVICE BULLETINS ñ FRU. SERVICE PARTS ñ A generic term to describe parts that are used in the maintenance and repair of Capstone equipment. A part, component, assembly, or module that replaces a defective part in the MicroTurbine generator system while fielded. Includes both maintenance and repair parts. SERVICE PARTS LIST ñ A list of serviceable parts available to authorized service providers. SFC ñ Smart Fuel Controller (SPV/LFC). SG ñ Sour Gas. SIMPLE CYCLE ñ A MicroTurbine that does not employ a recuperator. Overall system thermal efficiency is less than a recuperated MicroTurbine, as more fuel must be burned to reach the correct power and gas temperatures. SIP ñ Small Industrial Package. S/O ñ Shut-off. SO2 ñ Sulphur Dioxide. SOC ñ State of Charge (of a battery). SOFTWARE LOAD - This is the software that operates a controller or subassembly (like an SPV or RFC). Each variant of the software that must be loaded into a product is considered a software load. For example, if three versions of software are needed to control all variants of a product, each of the three is considered one software load. SOFTWARE RELEASE - The software release is an event that occurs when a software development build is ready to be used by customers or operations. This occurs after the software has completed software release testing (QA) and is controlled by configuration control. SOUR GAS ñ Natural gas that contains hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
