Drawings of the detail parts are assigned a six (6) digit core number and a three (3) digit detail dash number (i.e., 50XXXX-001, -002, etc.). PATENT ñ A property right granted by the U.S. government to an inventor (or the inventorís assignee) to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention. The term is for twenty (20) years, (seventeen (17) years prior to 6/8/95). PATENT PENDING ñ The patent granting stage that occurs between the patent application to the U.S. Patent Office and the granting and patent number assignment by the U.S. Patent Office. PCBA ñ Printed Circuit Board Assembly. PCC ñ Point of Common Coupling. The point at which the electric utility and the customer interface. Typically this is the customer side of the utility revenue meter. In practice, in residential settings the customer distribution panel may be considered the PCC. Pcd ñ Compressor discharge pressure. PCMCIA ñ Personal Computer Memory Card International Association. PEAK LOAD / PEAK DEMAND ñ The electric load that corresponds to a maximum level of electric demand in a specified period, e.g., seasonably or yearly. PEAK VOLTAGE - For sinusoidal voltage or current waveforms, the peak value is square- root-of-two times the rms value. PERSONALITY MODULE - A small electronic module attached to a subassembly that permits electronic retrieval of information about that subassembly. The kind of information can include: i) configuration information (part number, rev level as built, serial number, date of manufacture, location of manufacture, etc.) ii) idiosyncratic information (results of ATP, any item-to-item variable data needed to establish trend lines or operational variances, etc.); and iii) operational history (items such as bearing lift-offs, number of run hours, faults, etc.). pf ñ Power Factor. PM ñ Personality Module. PMG ñ Permanent Magnet Generator. POWER ñ A term meant to imply both capacity and energy. The rate at which energy is transferred. Electrical energy is usually measured in watts. POWER FACTOR ñ The fraction of power actually used by the electrical equipment compared to the total apparent power supplied, usually expressed as a percentage. Power factors apply only to alternating circuits; direct current circuits always exhibit a power factor of 1. A power factor indicates how far the electrical equipment causes the electric current delivered to be out of phase with the voltage.
