Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Glossary of Terms and Acronyms ENCLOSURE ASSEMBLY ñ Structure that houses the cart and associated modules, and assemblies that comprise the MicroTurbine generator system. The enclosure is intended to provide protection from the elements. The enclosures conform to the NEMA 250-1997 rating of 3R weather resistance. The enclosure assembly is comprised of the following assemblies: ENCLOSURE BASE ñ The structure that supports the enclosure panels and associated parts. The enclosure base accommodates lifting and handling requirements. The cart rides on the upper surface of the enclosure base when the enclosure assembly is in the ìclosedî position. ENCLOSURE PANELS ñ Panels that are attached to the enclosure base and vertically encase the cart when the enclosure assembly is in the closed position. EXHAUST HOOD/EXHAUST VENT ñ An assembly designed to allow exhaust from the MicroTurbine and electronic modules to exit the enclosure while offering environmental protection to the MicroTurbine generator system housed within the enclosure assembly. ENERGY ñ The capability of doing work (potential energy) or the conversion of this capability to motion (kinetic energy). EPA ñ Environmental Protection Agency. EPAct (US) ñ The Energy Policy Act of 1992 addresses a wide variety of energy issues. The legislation creates a new class of power generators, exempt wholesale generator (EWGs), that are exempt from the provisions of the Public Utilities Holding Company Act of 1935 and grants the authority to FERC to order and condition access by eligible parties to the interconnected transmission grid. EPRI ñ Electric Power Research Institute. ERCOT ñ Electricity Reliability Council of Texas. ES ñ Engineering Specification. ESD ñ Electrostatic Discharge. E-STOP ñ Emergency Stop. E-STOP SWITCH (BUTTON) ñ Emergency stop switch that disables the MicroTurbine generator system immediately. Intended to shutdown and de-energize the system. ETHERNET ñ 1. A type of local area network (LAN) originally developed by Xerox Corporation. 2. Used to connect computers and peripherals into a LAN. 3. High-speed digital communication used to communicate between the ECM controllerís main processor in a Multi-Pac system.
