6.2 Compared to Internal Combustion Engines In the absences of a post combustion device such as a catalytic converter, internal combustion engines can have very high emissions levels. The following table summarizes the emissions levels of a broad range of these engines. It indicates that the very best internal combustion engines have emissions of NOx that are significantly higher than the Capstone MicroTurbine. Both CO and THC are much higher for an internal combustion engine than for the Capstone MicroTurbine. Table 2.
