Summary This Product Specification describes the Capstone Logic Controller (CLC). The CLC is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control system that provides advanced control capability to allow groups of turbines, operate with all the benefits of both a collection of individual units and a single aggregate unit. The CLC offers a PLC-based solution to control systems and is designed for custom applications. Basic features include intelligent dispatch modes and the ability to interface with the microturbines through Modbus (Serial or TCP/IP) or custom designed hardwire interlocks. Limited balance of plant can also be interfaced with additional custom programming. Time of use, load following and run time balancing are also available. The Dual Mode CLC extends the capabilities of the Grid Connect CLC and offers Stand Alone operation to more microturbines. The Dual Mode CLC increases the availability of the microturbine array. Turbine operational control is done locally via the touch-screen display. It can also be done remotely via LAN or Internet through an Ethernet connection at the controller. 2. Models and Configurations The Capstone Logic Controller (CLC) is available in two configurations, Grid Connect and Dual Mode. The following information describes the major components of the CLC:  Human Machine Interface (HMI) – The HMI provides a platform for customer interface as well as monitoring and controlling of the microturbines.  Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) - A built-in PLC provides all the dispatch control as well as I/O capability. The PLC has the ability to interface with discrete I/O, analog voltage I/O, analog current I/O, and analog temperature inputs. The PLC can be custom programmed for individual customer’s needs.  Master Control Board Set (MCBS) – The MCBS contains the microturbine (master) internal components that interface with the PLC and act as the Multipac master to the microturbines (Dual Mode configuration only).  Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) – The UPS provide up to 14 minutes of backup power for Dual Mode and Stand Alone applications. The following table defines the CLC compatibility with Capstone’s Microturbine fleet.
