Table 15. Hosmer and Lemeshow test. Chi-square d.f. Sig. 15.455 8 0.051 The model was able to classify correctly 77.1% of companies (table 16). This was the highest percentage obtained, compared to other models that included different combinations of variables. Observed Not Upgrading Observed Upgrading Overall Percentage Predicted Not Upgrading 60 15 Predicted Upgrading 9 21 Percentage Correct 87.0% 58.3% 77.1% Table 16. Classification table. The outcome (dependent variable) takes either a value of 0: Not Upgrading or a value of 1: Upgrading. Initially, 36 variables were inserted in the model. Those variables were the various drying problems and issues from questions 10, 12, 13, 14, and the capacity of the largest kiln from question 3. For this last variable, 8 rank categories of kiln capacity were created as shown in table 17. Scores in these categories were inserted into the model rather than capacities in board feet to produce a more meaningful interpretation. Table 17. Categories created for largest kiln capacity. Largest Kiln Capacity (in b.f.) Category 1 - 50,000 1 50,001 - 100,000 2 100,001 - 150,000 3 150,001 - 200,000 4 200,001 - 250,000 5 250,001 - 300,000 6 300,001 - 350,000 7 350,000 - 400,000 8 The total number of cases for this analysis was 105. There were 58 cases with missing values excluded from the analysis. The final model was produced at the 30th step and included 7 variables and the constant. The variables in the final model that affect a company's decision to upgrade its kilns are: 57PDF Image | KILN DRYING PROBLEMS AND ISSUES IN CANADA
