Cleaning Refer to the Material Information sheet at the end of this document for a detailed listing of all items necessary for use during the cleaning procedures. Clean component parts as follows: 1. Using a razor blade, carefully remove and discard the existing heatsink pad material. 2. Clean the exposed surfaces of any remaining resi- due or deposits of heatsink pad material. Check/Inspection All check/inspection procedures may be performed using standard check/inspection equipment. Visual checks may be performed under strong light. Refer to the Material Information sheet at the end of this document for a detailed listing of all items necessary for use during the inspection procedures. Inspect components as follows: 1. Inspect part surfaces and threaded areas for dam- age, burrs, corrosion, and excessive wear. Return damaged parts to Capstone Turbine Corporation. Note: Excessive wear is defined as any obvious deformation or deterioration of a part which may render the unit inoperative. If any doubt exists concerning the service- ability of a part, return the part to Capstone Turbine Corporation. 2. Examine threaded areas for stripped or crossed threads and for accumulation of foreign material. 3. Tap or chase minimally damaged thread areas. Remove foreign material from threaded areas. Return threaded parts if more than two threads are damaged. 4. Examine parts for distortion. Return distorted parts to Capstone Turbine Corporation. 5. Examine plated areas for blisters, chipping, and flaking. Return these damaged parts to Capstone Turbine Corporation. While it is sometimes possible to repair a damaged part for safe return to service, it is important that the cause of damage be determined and corrected, if possible, to prevent more serious damage and unit failure during subsequent operation. Instructions are provided for the cooling fan and BCT controller PCBA installation only. Do not attempt other repairs. Return all components which cannot be repaired or do not meet check and inspection requirements to Capstone Turbine Corporation. Replace component parts as follows: Remove Existing Relay Heatsink Pad K2 • • • • Replace the thermal pad and heatsink. Install a new cooling fan assembly. Replace the BCT controller PCBA.
