Capstone Service Notice SN0012 Date: From: Subject: August 2004 Capstone Technical Support LCM and ECM Power Board Capacitors Model C60 MicroTurbine Systems Affected Recently shipped Capstone Model C60 MicroTurbine systems. Safety Precautions Only Capstone Authorized Serviced Providers (ASP’s) should open the MicroTurbine and other equipment connected to the MicroTurbine. The systems can include multiple sources of power. Observe and adhere to the Safety Instructions contained within the MicroTurbine User’s Manual. Summary On the recently shipped Model C60 MicroTurbine systems, the ECM Power Board (512181- 100) and LCM Power Board (512182-100) may have either the original white colored capacitors (C1 through C4) or the newer ones that are blue. Due to the larger terminal contact areas with the PCB, the blue capacitors may cause the PCB to become scorched, and eventually may result in the Power Board failure. Capstone requests that at the next scheduled service visit, the ASP should check the ECM and LCM Power Boards for scorching in the terminal areas of the blue capacitors. If any scorching is observed, the Power Board should be replaced. Refer to ECM Power Board Replacement Work Instructions (440034) and LCM Power Board Replacement Work Instructions (440037) for installation details. This Service Notice does not apply to BCM Power Board Assemblies. Responsibility It is the responsibility of Capstone to provide this Service Notice and the Power Board Replacement Work Instructions to Authorized Service Providers. It is the responsibility of Capstone to provide the replacement Power Board to Authorized Service Providers.
