Capstone Turbine Corporation ■ 21211 Nordhoff Street ■ Chatsworth ■ CA 91311 Service Bulletin: Ignition Exciter Module Replacement Instructions – Model 330 MicroTurbine Cable Security Inspection The Ignition Exciter module is secured to the frame of the MicroTurbine and it has two cable assembly connection outlets. One outlet is for the ignition cable assembly and the remaining outlet is for the DPC harness assembly connection. The Ignition Exciter module triggers the igniter to start up the combustion in the MicroTurbine. However, if the high-tension cable assembly is not properly secured to the module, sparks may occur at the point of contact between the cable assembly and the Ignition Exciter module. In turn, this malfunction could prevent the MicroTurbine from starting. This Service Bulletin provides inspection and repair procedures for correcting possible loose cable assemblies. Servicing When servicing the MicroTurbine, be certain that the enclosure is opened by Authorized Service Providers only. WARNING Make sure that the MicroTurbine is de-energized from the utility and wait at least 15 minutes after disconnection before servicing. Ignition Exciter Module Replacement All of the reworked Ignition Exciter modules are date-stamped on the plate located between the connector outlets. As the Ignition Exciter modules were reworked at different times, the specific date is not particularly relevant for this replacement operation. Also, note that there is a date sticker adjacent to the Ignition Exciter nameplate detailing the date of manufacture for the module. Ignition Exciter modules in blue-colored boxes, which carry no part number identification, are reliable modules and are NOT to be replaced. Ignition Exciter modules in silver-colored boxes identified with the Part Number 9400300-1 Rev B, without a date stamp must be replaced. 512338-001 (July 2001) Page 3 of 6 Service Bulletin SB0021.
