Capstone Subject: Affected: Capstone Customer Service Toll Free 1-(877) 282-8966 www.capstoneturbine.com Abstract: Description: SERVICE BULLETIN Connecting to Capstone MicroTurbineTM by Modem All Systems with black colored (Capstone part number 509906-001) modems, manufactured by ARC Electronics, and with system software earlier than version 4.05. System software upgrade will facilitate reliable modem connections. Upon reboot or power-up, the MicroTurbine electronics and modem are attempting to initialize simultaneously. Control signals toggled by the UCB RS232 connections for MicroTurbine initialization during this time cause the modem to initialize incorrectly. When the modem is not allowed to initialize with clean RS232 input signals it does not answer incoming phone calls. Work-around: After the MicroTurbine has powered up, cycle modem power. This may be done by removing the modem power fuse for several seconds, then replacing it (see page 2). This will cause the modem to reinitialize, and the modem will answer reliably until the next time the MicroTurbine is rebooted, or its power is cycled. Corrective Action: For a permanent solution, update the MicroTurbine system software with version 4.05.
