Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: High Humidity MicroTurbine Package User Connection Bay Accessories Dual Port Serial to Ethernet Converter The High Humidity package includes a dual port Serial to Ethernet converter in the User Connection Bay (see Figure 3). This allows digital communications connection to both the User and Maintenance RS-232 ports on the MicroTurbine (see Figures 5 and 6). This provides the flexibility to issue control commands over Ethernet, while simultaneously providing monitoring capability using the Capstone Remote Monitoring Software (CRMS) and/or Capstone Service Network. Refer to Serial to Ethernet Converter Technical Reference (410049) and Capstone Service Network User’s Manual (400016) for more details. Relays The three pre-installed relays (K1, K2 and K3) in the User Connection Bay provide the following functionality: K1 – The main functionality of K1 is to provide a less stressful Emergency Stop feature on the system than the emergency stop function available directly on the E-stop terminals of the UCB board. The coil for K1 must be energized for the system to operate. If power to K1 is removed, the system will immediately begin a warmdown sequence. In order for power output to cease immediately, it is recommended to implement a schemeby which a fault input is activated simultaneously when power is removed from K1. When K1 is energized, it closes the power circuit to the main fuel shutoff solenoid. By de-energizing K1 during system operation, an emergency shutdown scheme is provided without compromising engine wear during this event. The relay has a 24VDC coil and is DPDT type. One pole is used for the fuel solenoid power and the other is left as a spare. K2 – Energizes when the main power supply of the system is energized. It provides a contact signal to the Capstone controller or other monitoring device to notify that the main controller is energized. This relay has a 12VDC coil and is DPDT type. One pole is used to send the signal previously described and the other pole is left as a spare contact. K3 – Controls the heater operation. The two wires used for heater power are wired through two separate normally closed contacts. Both lines to the heaters are switched by these contacts, which allow using 208VAC to 240VAC 2-wire power. When the relay coil is de-energized, power is connected to the heaters. The relay coil is powered by the MicroTurbine’s internal 12 VDC power supply, and it is switched On by one of the programmable relays in the UCB, configured to close when the engine is in the RUN mode. Once the engine reaches run mode, the relay is energized and both wires feeding the heaters are disconnected. 480035 Rev B (October 2008) Page 8 of 12 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.PDF Image | Application Guide High Humidity MicroTurbine Package
