17014 CHP OVRTEMP CHP Outlet Overtemperature System SSL: 3 CHP SSL: FR Detects a failure to control the CHP outlet water temperature. If this fault occurs, the temperature has exceeded the Max Outlet Temperature set point (Factory default setting = 120 °F). This fault requires the MicroTurbine to be shut down. Symptom Probable Cause Analysis Repair Solution Outlet water temper- ature has exceeded Maximum Outlet Temperature set point Maximum Outlet Temperature set point 1. Is Maximum Outlet Temperature set point lower than the highest expected operational fluid outlet temperature? (Default setting = 120 °F.) If Yes, go to 2. If No, go to 3 2. Set Maximum Outlet Temperature set point to desired value and operate system. If the unit operates without faults, the problem is solved. If the unit still has a fault, go to 3. 3. Is Maximum Outlet Temperature set point at maximum value of 205 °F? Go to 10. Power demand changed suddenly. 4. Is power demand change to the MicroTurbine changing rapidly? Go to 10 Fluid flow changed suddenly 5. Did fluid flow change suddenly in the water side of the system (e.g., 60 GPM to 20 GPM)? Go to 10 Fluid inlet tempera- ture changed suddenly 6. Did fluid inlet temperature to HRM increase suddenly (e.g.,100 °F to 150 °F)? Go to 10 Flow switch harness failed 7. Turn OFF both the flow and system. Remove cap on the flow switch. Check resistance between COMM and Normally Open contact. Does it read Zero ohms (open condition)? If Yes, go to 9. If No, go to 10. 8. Check for short on flow switch harness. If no short, go to 11. If there is a short, go to 9. 9. Replace flow switch harness and start the unit. If the fault clears, the problem is solved. If the fault does not clear, go to 11. Flow switch failed 10. Replace flow switch and start the unit. If the fault clears, the problem is solved. If the fault does not clear, go to 11. 11. Check application. Contact Capstone Technical Support.
