11024 Internal Fault RS-232 COMM TO RS-232 Communication Time-out System Severity Level 3 This fault is declared if there is no response on the RS-232 bus. Symptom Probable Cause Analysis Repair Solution RS-232 Communi- cation Not Received Within Timeout Period After Start Command Issued On HEV Applications Command not transmitted in timely manner HEV application software requires that a RS-232 command be received every 10 seconds to avoid a shut- down. This is a safety feature to ensure communications is not lost between the main system computer and the unit. Transmit commands in appropriate time window. Poor connection Loose RS-232 cables can cause characters to be dropped during transmission. Checksum would not calculate correctly if this occurred. Ensure RS-232 cables are connected tightly and not damaged. Incorrect wiring Wiring on Capstone unit's RS-232 connectors is according to the specification for DTE. Use a null modem cable when wiring from a computer. Correct wiring problem Transmitted data does not match protocol If the user programs communica- tion software, verify that characters are transmitted as specified by protocol. Update messages to match protocol defined in Capstone's Open Communication Protocol Specification. Incorrect Check- sum Transmitted Checksum of message received by the system does match the transmitted Checksum. Refer to Capstone's Open Communication Protocol Specification for correct calculation of Checksum. Maintenance or User Cable Connection Cable carrying messages between UCB and DPC could be loose or damaged. Dry and secure Mainte- nance or User Cable at UCB and DPC. Replace if damaged. UCB Board UCB board could be damaged causing signals to not make it from the Maintenance Port connection to the Maintenance Cable or from the User Port connection to the User Cable. Replace UCB Board DPC Control Board DPC can have damaged circuitry that causes it to not receive correct message data. Replace DPC Control Board (See Document 513176) Observe Safety Precautions - Refer to Important Safety Instructions for Details 430001-001 Rev B (Sep 2002) 212 Troubleshooting Guide Capstone Turbine Corporation reserves the right to change or modify without notice the design, the product specifications, and/or the contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction.PDF Image | Overview SERIES 11000 FAULT CODES Communications Faults
