Each CSN Gateway is capable of serving up to 15 MicroTurbines, through an Ethernet switch. Additionally, the CSN Gateway is capable of accepting up to 8 discrete signals and uploading their status to the Capstone Service Network servers. Digital inputs 0-5 are potential free. Digital inputs 6 and 7 are 16-bit counter timers that can be cascaded to form a single 32-bit counter. example, the digital counter could be used with a flow meter to display liquid flow data to the user website. In single MicroTurbine installations, no Ethernet switch and Serial to Ethernet Converter is required since the CSN Gateway is integrated into the rear of the MicroTurbine. The Capstone Gateway 101 is connected to the MicroTurbine’s user port through a RS232 cable (see Figure 6). The Gateway is powered off 24Vdc from the User Connection Bay. All required mounting hardware, a RS232 data cable, and the power cable required to install the Gateway to the User Connection Bay is provided in the Capstone Gateway 101 kit (p/n 520705-100). Ethernet Switch: Each MicroTurbine occupies a port on this industrial-grade 10/100 Ethernet switch.
