Introduction: This Application Engineering Bulletin describes the correct versus incorrect assembly of the Copeland DC Power Cable Harness. This cable harness is used with Copeland system model number SZN22C1A-BBX-201 and SZN22C2A-BBX- 201. Tools Required: Small Pin Punch or Screwdriver Procedure: Some Copeland Power Cable Harnesses, Copeland PN 029-0302-00, may be assembled incorrectly. When the Anderson connector end of this cable is attached to the Capstone C60 Microturbine the polarity of the plug must be verified prior to electrical power being turned on. If the polarity is reversed, power fuses will be blown and the system may be damaged. The red side of the Anderson connector must match the red side of the socket on the Microturbine and the black side of the connector must match the black side of the socket on the Microturbine. If the Anderson connector has been incorrectly assembled, it can easily be corrected in the field, or it can be returned to Copeland for a replacement cable. If the ANDERSON connector is reversed with the black plug on left and the red plug on right with the key on the bottom, it can be corrected. The sides of the red and black plugs have male and female dovetails molded into them. A roll pin keeps the two halves of the connector aligned. • Use a small punch or pin to press out the roll pin that is located between the plug halves. SAVE THE ROLL PIN. • Slide the red half of the connector forward and the black half of the connector toward the wires to separate the connector assembly. • Re-assemble the connector with the red half on the left and the black half on the right. Insert the roll pin in the assembled connector. The wiring harness is not ready for use connected the Copeland system to the Capstone Model 60 system. Form No. 2002-69 Page 2 of 4 Revision 1 Issued 04/08/02 Copeland is a registered trademark of Copeland Corporation. ¤2001 Copeland Corporation.
