Application Engineering Bulletin From: Copeland Customer Service Subject: Low Inlet Gas Pressure Switch Requirements Be sure to read and comply with the instructions contained within this Application Engineering Bulletin related to safe operation of the Copeland Fuel Gas Booster (“system”). Introduction: This Application Engineering Bulletin applies to the Low Inlet Gas Pressure Switch. Under no circumstance should the position or operation of the Low Inlet Gas Pressure Switch be altered when the system is applied to a natural gas supply pipeline. Tools Required: If required a suitable Manometer or low-pressure gage capable of measuring natural gas pressure in inches of H20. Details: US Department of Transportation (DOT), State, Local and Utility codes, regulations and rules and the Copeland system UL listing prohibit placing the natural gas pipeline under negative pressure. To comply with these regulations, all Copeland systems are equipped with a Low Inlet Gas Pressure switch. This switch opens at 2”H20 on pressure fall and closes at 4”H20 on pressure rise. The natural gas supply must me capable of maintaining more than 4”H20 of gas pressure under all operating conditions. Under no circumstance should the Copeland Low Inlet Gas Pressure switch set points be adjusted or changed. The Copeland Low Inlet Gas Inlet Gas Pressure switch must not be disabled or removed. Doing so may result in personal injury or death and may also damage surrounding equipment.
