Application Engineering Bulletin From: Copeland Customer Service Subject: SERVICE REMINDER Annual Maintenance For Copeland Scroll Fuel Gas BoostersóPipeline Quality Gas All models of Copeland Scroll Fuel Gas Boosters are designed to provide reliable long- term service with minimum maintenance. When connected to pipeline quality natural gas supply, maintenance is required once a year or every 8,000 operating hours, whichever comes first. At that time the Oil Separator element must be replaced, the oil level topped off, and the heat exchanger surfaces cleared of debris and dirt. Depending on the installation this typically requires less than one hour. Two kits are available from Copeland to simplify maintenance. 1. The Maintenance and Installation Tool Kit (998-0006-00, Net Price To OEMs And Distributors $230) contains the tools required to service the Fuel Gas Booster. 2. The Maintenance Parts-Standard Kit (998-0003-00, Net Price To OEMs And Distributors $123) contains a replacement Oil Separator Element and a Quart of synthetic oil with additives specifically for natural gas applications. No other oil should be used. Failure to replace the Oil Separator element can result in increased oil content in the compressed gas, increased oil consumption, and eventual depletion of the compressor oil. Please note that units running on non-pipeline grade gas, such as digester and landfill gas, require more extensive and frequent maintenance. Please contact Copeland for additional details.
