Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 Application Guide: Dual Mode Controller (DMC) Control Signal Connections In a MultiPac system the DMC control signal connections are made to the master system (MicroTurbine) only. The master will communicate all of the necessary information to the slave systems. Terminal blocks 9 and 10 of the DMC connect to one of the 6 available Solid State Relay outputs in the UCB Communications Bay of the (master) MicroTurbine. The selected Solid State Relay must be programmed to represent SA LOAD and to be ACTIVE CLOSED. Note the number of the Solid State Relay that is to be used. This number has been designated “N” in the following instructions. WARNING To prevent possible damage to the DMC, the selected Solid State Relay output (Number N), must be configured to SA LOAD, ACTIVE CLOSED prior to the connection of this Solid State Relay output to the DMC. WARNING When power is first applied, if the Isolation switch (M1) in the DMC cycles between open and closed (more than three times), de- energize the DMC immediately, and then check the configuration and wiring of the selected Solid State Relay output (Number N). A ten-conductor shielded cable should be used to make the control signal connections from the DMC to the Communications Bay of the UCB in the (master) MicroTurbine. Wiring parameters include the following items: The shielded cable wire must be 18 to 10 AWG, inclusive. The cable must be rated for at least 24 volts DC. The shield itself should be connected to the CHASSIS terminal at the MicroTurbine UCB end ONLY. The maximum length for this cable must not exceed 100 feet. 513000-001 (Oct 2001) Page 27 of 32 DMC Application Guide. Rev.
