Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Glossary of Terms and Acronyms ICHP – Integrated Combined Heating and Power system manufactured by Capstone. The Heat Recovery Module is installed on top of a Model C60 MicroTurbine and is integrated with the MicroTurbine. IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IGBT - Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor. Used in the power module and produces 3-phase waveforms using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). IGNITER – An accessory that is designed to deliver a high-energy spark to ignite the air-fuel mixture that is contained in the combustor during start-up. The igniter is only energized during the start sequence. The igniter is mounted to the recuperator assembly and extends into the combustor assembly. INCH–1Inch=25.4mm. INCIDENT– An Incident occurs whenever a measured parameter falls outside prescribed limits. Incidents include (but are not limited to) low fuel pressure, utility interruptions, and utility overvoltages. Depending on the parameter and the magnitude of its excursion, the Incident is classified as either a WARNING INCIDENT or a FAULT INCIDENT: FAULT INCIDENT – This is a condition under which the system shuts down to prevent possible damage or unsafe conditions. WARNING INCIDENT – This is a condition which is outside normal operating parameters, but which does not require a system shutdown. INJECTOR (FUEL) – An assembly that is designed to prepare and introduce the air-fuel mixture into the combustor where it is ignited. Fuel injectors can operate in various modes (pre-mix, and Pilot) to develop the desired emission profiles under different operating conditions. Fuel injector designs can be modified to accommodate various fuel types (i.e., gaseous, liquid). INTAKE PANEL: 􏰪 INTAKE PANEL – UPPER - Structure that is attached to the cart and contains the air inlet for the turbine engine, and in some configurations the system display panel. The upper intake panel may be removed to provide access to modules or accessories during R & R. Used in conjunction with the lower intake panel. 􏰪 INTAKE PANEL – LOWER – Structure that is attached to the cart and contains the air inlet for the electronic modules (i.e., controller, battery controller). The lower intake panel may accommodate the display panel and provide access panels that facilitate access to circuit breakers and other components that require access without removing the intake panels. The lower intake panel may be removed to provide access to modules or accessories during R & R. Used in conjunction with the upper intake panel. INTER-ECM-UCB – Main connection between ECM and UCB (Model C60). INTER-MODULE – High-speed digital communication between the ECM and LCM (Model C60). 400002-001 Rev D (September 2004) Page 13 of 22 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
