EPAct (US) – The Energy Policy Act of 1992 addresses a wide variety of energy issues. The legislation creates a new class of power generators, exempt wholesale generator (EWGs), that are exempt from the provisions of the Public Utilities Holding Company Act of 1935 and grants the authority to FERC to order and condition access by eligible parties to the interconnected transmission grid. EPRI – Electric Power Research Institute. ERCOT – Electricity Reliability Council of Texas. ES – Engineering Specification. ESD – Electrostatic Discharge. E-STOP – Emergency Stop. E-STOP SWITCH (BUTTON) – Emergency stop switch that disables the MicroTurbine generator system immediately. Intended to shutdown and de-energize the system. ETHERNET – A type of local area network (LAN) originally developed by Xerox Corporation. Used to connect computers and peripherals into a LAN. High-speed digital communication used to communicate between the ECM Controller’s main processor in a MultiPac system. EU – European Union. Ex MARK – Distinctive EU apparatus certification mark for potentially explosive atmospheres. EXCITER – A device that supplies high energy to the ignitor to initiate the combustion process. The exciter receives the command from the DPC or ECM. EXHAUST DIFFUSER DOME – The sheet metal half-hollow torus (dome) that is attached to the exhaust diffuser and the aft recuperator housing. The exhaust diffuser dome is intended to separate the high-pressure air from the low-pressure exhaust gas, and to assist in re- directing the exhaust gas flow into the recuperator core. EXHAUST DOME – The sheet metal assembly attached to the aft end of the recuperator assembly. It is intended to re-direct the exhaust gas flow to the low-pressure entrance of the recuperator core. FACTORY REMANUFACTURED COMPONENTS – Parts or components that have been remanufactured to processes and standards developed by Capstone.
