System Settings Prerequisites Establishing the system settings for the Capstone 60 is required before operating the system for the first time. All system connections - fuel, exhaust, electrical, and communications - should be completed as detailed in the Installation & Start-Up manual. Adjusting these settings requires familiarity with User Communication and Display Panel Operation. Details for both may be found in their respective sections in the Systems Operation manual. Alternately, all system settings may be established remotely, via the optional Capstone Remote Monitoring System (CRMS) software. Establishing the settings, and configuring an operating mode and dispatch mode for the Capstone 60 in a particular application requires a complete understanding of the user’s needs, the electrical output wiring, and the communication wiring. Some dispatch modes may call for an understanding of an external system which may control the Capstone 60. The heat content of the fuel may need to be known. Finally, system settings must conform to local governmental regulations and/or utility rules regarding protective relay functions. Grid Connect Operating Mode Overview The Capstone 60 may be connected in parallel to a utility grid to power local grid-connected loads. Employing the Capstone 60 in this fashion gives the user the capability to reduce the facility power demand by displacing utility power during peak periods. By operating the Capstone 60 in this "grid connect" mode, the user can insure a seamless supply of power to the local loads whether the Capstone 60 is on or off.
