• Standby • Run • Load Fault StandAlone StandAlone Load PRELIMINARY Communication Connections Communications Connections Communicating with the Capstone 60 may be accomplished directly through the Capstone 60 Display Panel, and no connections are required. Some limited outgoing communications are accomplished with output relays. Full function data communications and control are available through two RS232 serial ports. Output Relays The Capstone 60 includes 6 output relays. These can be programmed to show the operational state of the Capstone 60, for example: RS232 Connections The Capstone 60 includes a standard serial connector in the Communications Bay which communicates using RS232 standard protocol. This connector is called the User Interface Port (UIP). A personal computer may be connected directly to the UIP using a RS232 null modem cable (up to 25 feet), or via telephone line and modem connected to the UIP. The UIP is a male Dsub9 RS232 connector and is located in the Communication Bay. Another connector is called the Maintenance Interface Port (UIP). A personal computer may be connected directly to the MIP using a RS232 null modem cable (up to 25 feet), or via telephone line and modem connected to the MIP. The MIP is a male Dsub25 RS232 connector and is located in the Communication Bay. Whether communicating directly or over modem, the PC may use the Capstone Remote Monitoring System software (sold separately) to monitor and/or control the Capstone 60. Controls Connections Capstone 60 systems are self-contained and do not normally require external controls, however some dispatch modes require external control signals. These control signals are accomplished by closing or opening continuity of a simple, 5 volt dry contact circuit. These circuit connections are made via pairs of terminals on J12 in the Communications Bay. These output relays are solid state devices rated for 200 VAC @ 100 ma. They are accessed through terminal pairs on J15 in the Communications Bay. The outputs can be programmed either active closed (the relay is closed when condition is true), or active open (the relay is open when condition is true). For the Capstone 60, each one of these relay outputs or pair of outputs can be assigned in the software to show any of a list of software states or flags, and can be programmed either active open or active closed. It is also possible to assign the same state (or flag) to multiple relay outputs. Surge or contact suppressors must be fitted across these relays when connected to circuits containing individual loads. For example, relays, contactors, or motors. The maximum clamping voltage of these surge suppressors must not exceed 350 V @ 100 ma. Each output relay has a second set of solid state contacts rated for 24 VDC @ 200 ma. When the relay is energized, the output is connected to ground. These outputs are on J13 in the Communications Bay. 511519-001 11 Installation & Start-Up
