Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA User’s Manual: Advanced Power Server (APS) Model 145 User's Manual 2.3.3. Power Specifications The following paragraphs describe how to set the various power output options for the turbines in the MultiPac. Refer to the applicable microturbine Technical Reference (Table 1) for details about operating modes and power specifications. 2.3.3.1 Power Demand (Grid Connect) Use the Power Demand field on the touch screen (see Figure 7 for location) to set the power demand in kilowatts while in Grid Connect mode. This setting is active until the turbine is shut down. Each time the turbine starts up, any previous Power Demand setting is no longer available and the kW value is set to zero. The APS addresses each logical group in the MultiPac as a single unit with a single power output. Therefore, the APS accepts a power demand input for a Grid Connect group and distributes the power demand among all the modules in the group, and it is not used to set the power demand for an individual turbine. See Figure 10. To set the power demand, the turbine must be operating in Grid Connect mode and a Grid Connect group selected. Touch the SET button under Power Demand on the screen. This opens the data entry keypad as shown in Figure 5. Use the touch screen buttons on the keypad to enter the power demand value in kilowatts. Touch the OK button to save the value and close the keypad. Touch to Enter Power Demand Touch to Enter Spinning Reserve Touch to Enter Power Factor Touch to Select LAG or LEAD Figure 10. Power Demand, Spinning Reserve, and Power Factor Settings 2.3.3.2 Spinning Reserve The Spinning Reserve field on the touch screen (see Figure 7 for location) lets the user set the spinning reserve in Grid Connect or Stand Alone mode. To set the spinning reserve, the power dispatch mode must be set to Maximum Efficiency using CRMS-APS. Refer to the APS-145 Technical Reference (Table 1) for details. 400026 Rev E (March 2014) Page 15 of 56 Capstone reserves the right to change or modify, without notice, the design, specifications, and/or contents of this document without incurring any obligation either with respect to equipment previously sold or in the process of construction. NOTE: The Spinning Reserve field is for data entry only. This field will not display the spinning reserve value after it has been set, regardless of whether is set locally or remotely via a Building Management System (BMS).
