3. Measure DC Bus Voltage With the lid of the DPC removed, locate the screw terminals E4 (Bus-) and E5 (Bus+) at the top of the power board (large circuit board). Set the Digital Multimeter to measure DC voltage and measure the voltage of terminal E5 with respect to E4. This voltage should be greater that 500 VDC. 4. Check Fuses F500 and F501 Turn off the main power to the microturbine and switch off the battery breaker if the battery option is installed. Wait five minutes or until the DC bus voltage (as measured in Step #3) falls below 20 VDC. Locate fuses F500 and F501 directly above the vent fan on the power board. Set the Digital Multimeter to measure resistance and measure the resistance of each fuse. The resistance should be less than one Ohm. 5. Check Power Supply LED on the Power Board Turn on the main power to the microturbine. Locate LED500 on the power board to the left of the vent fan. 6. Check Control Board LED’s Locate the Control Board towards the left side of the DPC. There should be several LED’s continuously illuminated and others that may be flashing. At a minimum, make sure that LED’s D33, D35, and D61, located towards the bottom right, are on. There should also be a flashing LED towards the middle/right of the board which indicates that the processor is executing the main code. TURN OFF POWER FOR THE REMAINING STEPS. WARNING: Perform the following steps with the power turned OFF. Failure to turn OFF the power may cause personal injury or death, or damage to equipment. 7. Check Cable W201 Cable W201 transfers low voltage power from the Power Board to the Control Board. If this cable is damaged, the Control Board will not turn on. Remove this cable and check continuity of each pin from one connector to the other. Also, check that each pin is properly inserted into the connector housing and no pins are visibly damaged. 8. Measure Precharge Resistors The precharge resistors are located on the upper right hand side of the DPC. These resistors allow the grid voltage to charge up the DC bus when the main power to the MicroTurbine is supplied. The precharge resistors are labeled R1, R2 and R3 on the “Precharge Board” but can be easily measured at the terminals of the Contactor. Set the Digital Multimeter to measure resistance. Locate the Contactor at the top of the DPC and measure the resistance across each phase (L1 to T1, L2 to T2, L3 to T3). The resistance should be between 9 and 11 Ohms. 9. Check Inverter for Short Circuits There are 4 inverter inductors located immediately to the right of the Power Board in the DPC. Each inductor has two terminals, one connected to the Power Board and one connected to a wire that goes to the Contactor. Set the Digital Multimeter to measure resistance. Measure the resistance of the right side (grid side) of each inductor to chassis ground. The resistance of each phase should be over 5 kOhms. If it is less, consider this a short circuit. 9A) Check Inverter IGBTs for Short Circuits Remove the screws connecting each inductor to the Power Board at terminals E6, E9, E10 and E11. Make sure that the inductor terminals are not touching the Power Board (inserting a piece of insulating material between them, such as paper, will help.). Measure the resistance of each terminal E6, E9, E10 and E11 to chassis ground. The resistance should be above 5 kOhms. If it is less, consider this a short circuit. 9B) Check Inverter Inductors for Short Circuits With the inductors still isolated from the Power Board, measure the resistance of the right side (grid side) of each inductor to chassis ground. The resistance of each phase should be over 5 kOhms. If it is less, consider this a short circuit.
