Notes on Output Measurement Units Pressure Figures denoting pressure in this document assume gauge pressure, or one standard atmosphere less than absolute pressure, unless otherwise indicated. Volume Fuel gas and exhaust gas volumetric measurements are listed in normal cubic meters (Nm3) and standard cubic feet (scf). These volumes are defined at 1 atmosphere (760 mm Hg, 14.696 psia) and 15.6 oC (60 oF). Heating Values Heat contents and heat rates will be found in either lower heating value (LHV) (dry) or high heating value (HHV), depending upon the application. Capstone calculates heating values at 1 atm (or 760 mm Hg, 14.696 psia) and 15.6 oC (60 oF), according to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D3588. Electrical Output The Model 330 Microturbine produces a maximum of 30 kW at International Standardization Organization (ISO) conditions of 15 oC (59 oF) at sea level. This output capability is reduced by higher ambient temperatures or elevations, or by intake or exhaust restrictions, and some options. Grid Connect Output The Model 330 electrical output in grid connect mode is 3-phase, 400 to 480 VAC and 45 to 65 Hz (both voltage and frequency are determined by the grid). Allowable connection types include: • 4-wire wye • 3-wire wye with neutral grounding resistor • 3-wire corner grounded delta Stand-alone Output When equipped with the Stand-alone option, the electrical output is user adjustable from 150 to 480 VAC, 10 to 60 Hz. The maximum power is 10 kW (with 46 amps) per phase (including neutral), continuous, and need not be balanced. Loads may be connected phase-phase or phase-neutral, so long as the current limits are respected. Overloads up to 54 amps per phase for up to 10 seconds can be accommodated. The Ramp Start feature can assist in starting loads with large in-rush currents. Direct Current Output The microturbine can produce direct current from 240 to 700 VDC. Direct current output is limited to 30 kW or 46 amps per phase continuous, 54 amps overcurrent, up to 10 seconds. Power Quality The Model 330 output conforms to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 519-1992, IEEE Recommended Practices and Requirements for Harmonic Control in Electrical Power Systems, IEEE, New York. Heat Output Recuperated Model 330 systems produce up to fully 305,000 kilojoules (290,000 Btu) per hour of clean, usable exhaust heat at temperatures in the range of 261 oC to 315 °C (500 oF to 600 °F), due to system-to- system variations and/or ambient conditions. The Nonrecuperated Model 330 (Simple Cycle) system produces 720,000 kilojoules (680,000 Btu) per hour at temperatures in the range of 518 oC to 574 °C (965 oF to 1065 °F). When designing the exhaust ducting, the upper end of the temperature ranges should be used. The exhaust stream is 127 mm (5 inches) in diameter, flowing up to 17 Nm3 (550 scfm). See the table on Rated Performance at ISO Conditions in the Performance section of this manual. System Operation 4 511715-002
