Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Technical Reference: Capstone Model C30 Acoustic Emissions Notice that noise levels from the low-pressure fuel system configurations are not expected to increase beyond that measured on high-pressure fuel system configurations. Table 1 contains data for the high-pressure natural gas standard package, the high-pressure natural gas standard package with exhaust silencer, the high-pressure natural gas industrial package, and the simple-cycle open package configurations. Table 1. Sound Pressure Levels (dBA) at 10 Meter (30 Foot) Radius 67 63 67 85 66 59 66 86 65 57 65 85 64 56 64 85 63 55 63 85 65 58 65 85 The actual noise radiation pattern taken at a customer site may differ from the results shown in Table 1. Nearby objects such as walls, buildings, or roofs can influence the noise radiation pattern and redirect the noise. The noise data taken during the Capstone tests were taken in an acoustic-free field, meaning that the data was essentially taken in the absence of noise reflecting objects. Sound Power Levels of Primary Sources Sound power measurements made with the standard production enclosure are presented in Table 2. Since sound power is only dependent on the noise source, the untreated sound power should be the same for the industrial package and for the open package as well. The overall and key, one-third octave bands sound levels are tabulated in Table 2, and highlighted as follows: ! The400Hz(one-thirdoctave)bandistypicallyrepresentativeofexhaustnoise, although it may also be indicative of flow-induced noise in the inlet flow path. ! The1.6kHz(one-thirdoctave)bandisrepresentativeoftheshaftrotational frequency. ! The3.2kHz(one-thirdoctave)bandisrepresentativeoftheexcitationfromthe interactions between the stator and the two-pole permanent magnet in the generator. ! The16kHz(one-thirdoctave)bandisrepresentativeofthecompressorbladepass frequency. 410025-001 Rev A (September 2002) Page 3 of 36 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
