Place the positive lead of the meter on terminal 24 (Bus-) and the negative lead on terminal 20. It should read between 0.2 and 0.5. If it is outside this range, the IGBT is damaged. Repeat the above procedure moving the negative lead to terminal 21 and then 22. Place the negative lead of the meter on terminal 23 (Bus+) and repeat the above measurements using the positive lead of the meter to connect to terminals 20, 21 and 22. The result should fall into the same range as above. 17. Check Generator IGBTs for Short Circuits In this section you will measure each individual IGBT (there are six for the line inverter and six for the generator inverter) for internal short or open circuits. First, locate the generator IGBT screw terminals. They are to the left of the vent fan labeled 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 and are distinguished by the gold colored screws. Terminals 23 and 24 are connected to the DC Bus+ and DC Bus- respectively. Set the Digital Multimeter to the “diode” setting. Place the positive lead of the meter on terminal 24 (Bus-) and the negative lead on terminal 20. It should read between 0.2 and 0.5. If it is outside this range, the IGBT is damaged. Repeat the above procedure moving the negative lead to terminal 21 and then 22. Place the negative lead of the meter on terminal 23 (Bus+) and repeat the above measurements using the positive lead of the meter to connect to terminals 20, 21 and 22. The result should fall into the same range as above. 18. Re-install Components When the troubleshooting procedure is completed, re-install all components back into their original positions by applying correct torque values specified in this section. Refer to the following tables for recommended torque values. CAUTION: It is important to apply the correct torque values when installing the removed components. Failure to do so will damage the components.
