Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: C200 Hazardous Location Turbine Assembly Storage Storage conditions for system are the same as a standard Capstone MicroTurbine system. Storage temperature range is from -20 to 65 °C (-40 to 149 °F). For further information, refer to the Model C200 Product Specification (460045). The crating will not protect the system indefinitely. Some air does enter the system through the protective packaging. Special packing must be done when ambient conditions are expected to be excessively humid and with saline content. Make sure to keep the systems as dry as possible and prevent moisture from entering the protective packaging. Desiccants must be included inside the package to reduce humidity while in storage. Crated systems should be stored in a roofed area. Battery Maintenance It is extremely important to perform proper battery maintenance during storage. Failure to do so will prevent the system from starting at the time of commissioning and will make the battery unusable. Refer to the Model C200 User’s Manual (400008) for battery maintenance details, and for appropriate charging intervals based on ambient temperatures. Refer to the C65/C200 Hazardous Location Package Battery Pack Charging Procedures Work Instruction (440276) for battery charging procedures. Do not connect a charger to the batteries unless the area is known to be non-hazardous. Heaters If the C200 hazardous location turbine assembly will remain non-operational in a humid environment for more than two weeks, the heaters must be on to prevent condensation inside the enclosure. Make sure that an external power source provided to power the heaters while the turbine assembly remains non-operational. Refer to Heater in Appendix A (page A-11) for details about the heater used in the hazardous location enclosure. NOTE 480047 Rev.
