Capstone Turbine Corporation • 21211 Nordhoff Street • Chatsworth • CA 91311 • USA Application Guide: Capstone Protective Relay Sensing Inputs 3 Voltage Inputs: Rated nominal voltage of 69 Vac to 480 Vac, 60 Hz (50 Hz user configurable). Will withstand 600V continuous voltage. Source voltages may be line-to-ground or line-to-line connected. Phase sequence ABC/ACB is selectable. Voltage transformer burden is less than 0.25Va at120Vac. 3 Current Inputs: Rated current (IR) of 5.0 A or 1.0 A, 60 Hz (50 Hz user configurable). Will withstand 2 IR continuous current and 30 IR for 2 seconds. Current transformer burden is less than 0.75 Va at 5 A for 5 A inputs, 0.3 Va at 1 A for 1 A inputs. By default, the Beckwith 3410A is wired for a 5A input. Voltage and Current Switch Assembly The switch assembly provides a means to install/disconnect the Beckwith 3410A relay. The switch assembly does this by providing isolation from the line voltages and will short out the current transformer secondary windings to prevent transformer damage. Damage may occur when the circuit is open under load. See Figure 3 for voltage and current sensor connections. Figure 3 – Voltage and Current Sensor Connections The switch handles are color coded red for voltage and black for current. The black plastic cover used to seal the switches can only be inserted once all switches are in the closed position. 480015 Rev B (May 2006) Page 4 of 12 This information is proprietary to Capstone Turbine Corporation.
